Ashley House Residential Home is owned by Retcare Ltd of which Derek Rettie is the only shareholder. His late father Charles and his late mum Ruth ran private homes for the elderly for 8 years in Aberdeen and Ballater, before returning to Aberdeen in 1971 to develop Ashley House into a popular, successful private hotel. Ruth Rettie was a trained Registered General Nurse, and Charles Rettie was an experienced cook/caterer. Derek Rettie has an Honours Degree in Business Studies and a Postgraduate Diploma in Community Care, both from The Robert Gordon University. Also in 2017, he completed an SVQ Level 4 in Social Services and Health Care. Derek Rettie is the Manager of the Home and registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
Established in 1989, Ashley House is registered with The Care Inspectorate and provides care for 12 elderly people.
Our Home has been substantially upgraded allowing us to offer each resident a Single Room with private facilities. Both the lounge and dining room are spacious with beautiful ornate ceilings.
A nurse call system is installed throughout and facilities comply fully with fire and local authority requirements.
The building has its own grounds and sheltered garden. A chairlift is installed for access to upper floors, if required. The Home is also fully double-glazed and has gas central heating throughout.
